The purpose of this was to study Genetically Modified Organisms and the health of society. The hypothesis was that when people become informed on the topic of GMOs they will eat and purchase less of them. The hypothesis agree with the primary data that has been collected while it disagrees with some of the secondary data that has been referred to. About half of the articles found are against genetically modified organisms and the other half states that they cause no harm. On the other hand, the students of Nelson High School were surveyed and the majority of students believe that GMOs cause negative effects on human health, animal health and the health of the environment. For further studies I would recommend having a larger variety of people in the target group. Different ages and different education levels would give a more accurate opinion on society at a large. The primary results that have been collected agree with the hypothesis. The knowledge that the students have on GMOs causes them to avoid them and they would rather eat food that has not been genetically modified.
